Malta has 15 five-star hotels with over 5,500 beds between them, many clustered within walking distance of each other making it easy to accommodate large delegations of up to 3,000 participants at any one time in neighbouring properties. Accommodation includes internationally renowned chains such as Hilton, Radisson Blu, InterContinental, Le Meridien, Westin, and Malta’s own Corinthia Hotels International, as well as independent boutique properties such as the inimitable Xara Palace, a Relais et Chateaux hotel, in the medieval walled city of Mdina. All conference hotels offer flexible in-house meeting spaces with dedicated staff. Moreover, the 41 four-star hotels on the island provide an additional 14,000 beds.
Launched in 2002, the Malta Tourism Authority’s Eco-certification scheme has encouraged hotels to operate in a more environmentally accountable way in accordance with strict criteria. The majority of five-star hotels and several four-star hotels have already been accredited with the Eco-certification.
